Crack Cocaine, also know as “the rock drug”, is extremely potent, short acting and highly addictive. Unlike traditional cocaine which is a white powder and most commonly snorted, “the rock drug” is more refined, it resembles a hard, white crystal-like plastic which is smoked with a glass pipe. The high does not last longer than 15-20 minutes and it is extremely intense, this produces extremely erratic behaviour related to the mental obsession for the next high.
It is important to know what to look for if you suspect someone is using crack cocaine. Some items that are common with rock users are:
- Cut straws
- Burnt tin foil
- Glass pipes
- Light bulbs
- Cans with indents, burns or holes
- Steel wool or copper gauze which is used as gauze
If you suspect someone of using “the rock drug”, there are physical signs for which to look out. These signs are a good indicator for potential rock use;
