Reach out now, we can helpStrategies to Handle Peer Pressure During Recovery with Crossroads
Throughout life we find ourselves being exposed to some form of peer pressure. It is not always in the most obvious of ways. It can be direct peer pressure such as, being told what to wear, what to say, how to behave etc. Then, the indirect way is more subtle. Observing others and doing exactly what they do to fit in.
This becomes difficult when it comes to criminal behaviour and addiction. Most people are influenced by someone or something in their lives.
Now when it comes to addiction. Peer pressure plays a massive part. Where you would not usually behave like that, had it not been for the influencer.

We provide a safe space at Crossroads
At Crossroads Recovery Centre we work closely with 12 Step programs which provide a safe space for addicts to share their experiences, hear experiences from others, and connect with like minded people.
We teach them to stay away from dangerous people, places, and things.
Detach from the people associated with your using wherever possible. Don’t hang around with people that are using in whichever form that may take. It does not mean that you are heartless. It means that your recovery comes first.
Also to avoid areas where the addict used. Taking all forms of addictions into account. Don’t hang around bars, strip clubs, night clubs bottle stores etc. So that you are not exposed to those temptations.
Do not keep drug paraphernalia around. Avoid films that glamorise addiction.
All these things can be triggers and a constant reminder of an old life.
This is a new road, and it is about being your most authentic self.
What we teach at Crossroads
